Taurus was a part of the Akseki Design Competition. Akseki is a town of Antalya Province located in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. It is a unique town that is famous for its snowdrops, Dugmeliev, Mountain Goats and many more. The Brief for the project was to create a souvenir and or packaging solution that will re-brand the town and promote tourism in the area.

 

My approach was to create something simple and significant at the same time, a symbol of sorts. What better symbol than a mountain goat that is rising up on its back legs but one that is also elegant and serene. The Taurus mountains were also very important to me in the design process as they are the habitat of these mighty animals and the backdrop of this beautiful city.

 

This symbol could have easily been turned into any kind of souvenirs from magnets to bottle openers but a keychain, in my opinion, was a more impactful and respectful way to represent this city and its habitants. It was also much more publicity than one could ever imagine with a souvenir that we put in our homes, it is something that we bring everywhere and carry with us all the time.

 

The bright red colour was integral to the design as it is the main colour of the Turkish flag and carry substantial meaning behind it, it is also a very modern, sleek and eye-cathing by its saturated nature.
